Intent of the process

►The intent is to staff the following positions indeterminately:
• Director, Child and Family Services

►The process may be used to staff similar positions with Indigenous Services Canada and Crown-Indigenous Relations and Northern Affairs Canada with various language requirements and profiles, and in various locations in Canada.

►All federal organizations listed in the Schedules I, IV and V of the Financial Administration Act (FAA) may use this selection process to staff similar positions in their organization.

►Indeterminate employees at the same group and level or equivalent will be considered for deployment. If no deployment is made, applicants from other groups and levels will be considered in the process.

EXPERIENCE

►Experience in the developing and implementing programs and services that support Indigenous communities.

►Experience in engaging and consulting with First Nations, Indigenous organizations, as well as other government departments, other levels of government and/or the private sector.

►Experience in providing strategic advice and recommendations to senior management on complex issues.

►Significant* experience in managing human resources** and finances***.

NOTES

Recent experience is defined as having been acquired within the last five (5) years.

Significant experience is defined as the depth and breadth of experience normally associated with having performed a broad range of activities related to the work, which is normally acquired over a period of at least two (2) years.

Some examples of managing human resources may include: supervising staff, establishing a vision, priorities, work plans or establishing work objectives, conducting performance assessments and feedback, approving training, demonstration of experience in managing various service delivery and resources allocation frameworks. Applicants must also indicate the number of staff they have supervised.

Some examples of managing financial resources may include: full authority for a budget, being responsible for financial planning, forecasting and reporting. Applicants must also indicate the size of the budget they managed directly.

►On October 6, 2021, the Government of Canada announced details of its plans to require vaccination across the federal public service.
As per the new Policy on COVID-19 Vaccination for the Core Public Administration Including the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, federal public servants in the Core Public Administration and members of the RCMP must attest to their vaccination status. The requirement for employees to be fully vaccinated applies whether they are teleworking, working remotely or working on-site. This is a condition of employment and it applies to indeterminate (permanent), determinate (term), casual, and student hiring. Should you reach the point in the selection process where it is necessary to verify terms and conditions of employment then the hiring manager or a human resources representative will contact you in order to complete an attestation. Preference

Preference will be given to veterans first and then to Canadian citizens and permanent residents, with the exception of a job located in Nunavut, where Nunavut Inuit will be appointed first.
