As per the new Policy on COVID-19 Vaccination for the Core Public Administration Including the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, federal public servants in the Core Public Administration and members of the RCMP must attest to their vaccination status. The requirement for employees to be fully vaccinated applies whether they are teleworking, working remotely or working on-site. This is a condition of employment and it applies to indeterminate (permanent), determinate (term), casual, and student hiring. • With direction of supervisor and existing staff, provide care for animals in accordance with CCAC guidelines and observe good animal welfare practices as outlined in SOP’s.
• Read and implement all of the swine unit SOP’s and JSA’s.
• Provide support for scientific research in the swine unit including the feeding, treatment, farrowing and breeding of swine.
• Cleaning and sanitizing works areas in accordance with biosecurity requirements.
• Working in a team environment.
• Basic repair and maintenance of penning, water systems and other swine housing using tools provided on site.
This is an ON-SITE position with occasional outdoor work duties such as lawn mowing, weed eating, road maintenance and miscellaneous other yard work type chores.
Hours of Work: 8:00 to 4:30 Monday to Friday
We are seeking to fill ONE full-time CASUAL (90-working-day) contract, to start as soon as possible.
This process is for casual employment only which is a temporary employment of 90 workings days or less in a calendar year.

• Graduated from an accredited high school.
• Possess strong written/oral communication and listening skills.
• Willing to work with other people and/or by themselves.
• Possess post-secondary training in any science-related field is an asset.
Reliability Status security clearance
• Possess and provide valid Class 5 Driver’s License within 7 days of request.
• Willing to work indoors with swine of all sizes.
• Willing to occasionally work outdoors.
