Intent of the process

This process will initially be used to staff one full-time position on an indeterminate(permanent) basis, and create a pool of qualified candidates. The pool of qualified candidates may be used to staff similar positions with various tenures (i.e. permanent or temporary) within the Royal Canadian Mounted Police.

Should a Civilian Member (CM) be found qualified and selected for appointment, the appointment will not result in a change of status to the Public Service (PS) category for the CM. Information regarding the CM appointment will be sent to all applicable candidates who are within the area of selection and participated in the advertised process.

• A secondary school diploma or employer-approved alternatives.

EXPERIENCE

• Experience using office technology and computer software such as: Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel.

• Experience in coordinating and implementing Restorative Justice Programs and initiatives.

• Experience in developing and maintaining collaborative relationships with stakeholders or advisors.

• Graduation with a degree from a recognized university in one of the following fields: education, child and youth development, social sciences, humanities, community development, criminology, or justice studies or an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.

• Experience maintaining a law enforcement database.

KNOWLEDGE

• Knowledge of the Youth Criminal Justice Act, Canadian Charter of Human Rights and Freedoms, Criminal Code regarding extra-judicial measures, and the Privacy Act.

OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS

• Willing and able to travel via commercial or government services when required.

Conditions of employment

• Security Clearance: Royal Canadian Mounted Police Enhanced Reliability Status.

• Possession of a valid driver's license or the personal mobility to the extent normally associated with the possession of a valid driver's license.

This is a condition of employment and it applies to indeterminate (permanent), determinate (term), casual, and student hiring. Candidates may be assessed using one or more of the following tools: standardized tests, written exam, interview, simulation exercise and reference checks.

Volume Management strategies may be used.

A random or top down selection of candidates may be used in the determination of those to be given further consideration in the assessment process.
