Duties

It should be noted that employees appointed to PC-02 positions within this organization are normally responsible for participating in the delivery of departmental programs pertaining to, for example, environmental impact assessments, environmental regulatory compliance promotion, protected areas planning and management, as well as initiatives to support public participation in nature conservation. Their tasks also include analyzing and participating in the development of strategies and initiatives as well as preparing analyses and backgrounders, including regulatory documentation and reports. They conduct field visits as needed.

The positions to be filled concern migratory bird monitoring and species at risk protection, protected area management and planning, and management of financial assistance programs to engage diverse audiences in the restoration of natural environments and in nature conservation.

Intent of the process

The purpose of this process is to create a pool of candidates who are members of the employment equity groups of Indigenous Peoples, and persons with disabilities that will be used to fill positions at the PC-02 group and level within the Quebec Regional Division of the Canadian Wildlife Service of Environment and Climate Change Canada.

Official language skills (French or Bilingual Imperative BBB/BBBB) and the term and conditions of employment will vary depending on the position.

EDUCATION:
ED. Degree from a recognized post-secondary institution with acceptable specialization in environment, ecology, geography or another field relevant to the position.

Degree equivalency

EXPERIENCE:
E1. Experience in actively participating in the planning, implementation or follow up of projects or programs related to fauna, flora or their habitats
E2. Experience preparing written reports or publications on fauna, flora or their habitats
E3. Experience participating in the planning, implementation or follow-up of multidisciplinary projects or programs involving different types of collaborators*

* Examples of types of collaborators: members of academia, experts from environmental consultant firms, Indigenous community members, public administration employees, employees of non-governmental organizations

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
• Valid driver’s license
• Pre-hire medical examination (for some positions only)

Information on employment equity

On October 6, 2021, the Government of Canada announced details of its plans to require vaccination across the federal public service.

As per the new Policy on COVID-19 Vaccination for the Core Public Administration Including the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, federal public servants in the Core Public Administration and members of the RCMP must attest to their vaccination status. The requirement for employees to be fully vaccinated applies whether they are teleworking, working remotely or working on-site. This is a condition of employment and it applies to indeterminate (permanent), determinate (term), casual, and student hiring.
