Join the Canadian Health Measures (CHMS) Mobile Examination Centre (MEC) team! If you have an adventurous spirit and enjoy travel, this is the position for you. During collection, you will be on continuous travel status returning home during scheduled time off. The Canadian Health Measures Survey Mobile Examination Centre moves to a new Canadian city every six weeks when in collection and you will be travelling continuously across Canada to include Montreal, Halifax, Edmonton, Prince George, Calgary, Abbotsford amongst numerous other locations. We are seeking people that are comfortable constantly traveling for upwards of two years (excluding scheduled time off). Travel accommodations, transportation, and per diems are included, under the National Joint Council travel directive, for further information regarding this please consult the NJC website.

Duties

-The successful candidate will work in the Mobile Examination Centre of a unique national study and continuously travel to various collection sites across Canada.

-The incumbent will be trained to perform physical measures testing following established protocols and guidelines (including blood pressure and anthropometric measures).

-The candidate will prepare the daily workspace for testing, including setting up and calibrating equipment and systems and performing routine maintenance of equipment.

-Before physical measures are completed, the candidate will ask routine screening questions and provide basic interpretation of measures to the respondent.

-The candidate will guide the respondent to perform the physical measures and enter the test results into a data collection system.

-The candidate will follow health and safety guidelines, quality control and data security measures, policies and procedures while on the work site.

-The candidate will perform administrative activities such as maintaining supply inventories, assisting in clinic set-up and take down, assisting in scheduling respondent appointments and other duties as required.

EDUCATION:

Diploma in Medical Radiological Technology from a recognized post-secondary institution.

Degree equivalency

OCCUPATIONAL CERTIFICATION:

A valid Medical Radiological Technologist certification through the Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologist.

EXPERIENCE:

EXP1. *Recent EXPERIENCE performing x-rays on a human population.

EXP2. *Recent EXPERIENCE following quality assurance procedures and x-ray equipment maintenance programs.

*Recent is defined as having performed the duties within the last five (5) years.

ASSET QUALIFICATIONS:

EXP3. EXPERIENCE and/or certification with Dual-energy x-ray absorptiometry.

EXP4. EXPERIENCE performing x-rays on children, individuals with physical or mental limitations or the elderly following standardized procedures.

ORGANIZATIONAL NEEDS:

Maintenance of a valid First Aid certification including CPR-C and AED provided by Statistics Canada.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT :

All employees of the core public administration are required to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 and attest to their vaccination status unless accommodated based on a medical contraindication, religion, or another prohibited ground for discrimination as defined under the Canadian Human Rights Act.

Work on continuous travel status. The Canadian Health Measures Survey Mobile Examination Centre moves to a new location somewhere in Canada every six weeks.

Must be willing to work shifts (evenings, weekends), statutory holidays, and overtime based on operational needs.

Must possess a valid Canadian driver’s license

Please note that the first assessment process that will be conducted via this inventory will begin in November 2021, with the screening phase. Other screening processes will be conducted periodically as vacancies arise.

Preference

Preference will be given to veterans first and then to Canadian citizens and permanent residents, with the exception of a job located in Nunavut, where Nunavut Inuit will be appointed first.
