Under the supervision of the Printing Center Manager, the Operational Processing Technician:
• Searches for and transfers electronic files from shared drives to digital
printers. The digital printers are high speed black and white, full colour, wide
format printer (up to 42 inches)
• Scans camera ready pages /images into digital printers
• Customizes print jobs
• Sets up and operates digital printers, reprographic systems and auxiliary
equipment for cover insertions, chapter starts, impositions, inserts
and shifts
• Ensures quality control of the work and compliance with clients'
requirements
• Performs finishing functions such as spiral punching, adjustable spiral
loading, paper drill, laminators, shrink wrap, paper banding machine, stitcher,
stapler, programmable folder, folders, pressure stacker, programmable knife
(up to 23 inches), programmable saddle stitcher, loading wide format, dry
mounting, framing, scoring and sign making
• Performs daily and weekly maintenance functions on equipment and places
service calls of machine malfunctions for all printing and finishing equipment

Please note that the positions to be staffed will require employees to work on-site.
The immediate intent of the process is to staff two (2) positions.
However, a pool of fully qualified candidates may be established and used to staff similar position with various tenures, security requirements and linguistic profiles, across Statistics Canada, upon approval from the Operations and Integration Division.

Education:
Successful completion of two years of secondary school or employer-approved alternatives (see Note 1)
The employer-approved alternatives to two years of secondary school are:
• A satisfactory score on the Public Service Commission test approved as an alternative to two years of secondary school; or
• An acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience
Experience:
EXP1. *Recent experience operating various Document Printing Systems such as but not limited to Océ, VarioPrint, Nuvera, DocuSp series or DocuDT series (Document Printing System 61xx series) etc..
*Recent is defined as having performed the duties within the last 5 years
EXP2. Experience using one of the following or equivalent software;
• Xerox Digipath
• FreeFlow Document Makeready
• PrismaSync pre-press software.
EXP3. Experience with production colour printers
EXP4. Experience operating finishing equipment such as a booklet maker, folder, cerlox / spiral, etc…
AEXP1. Experience working with Adobe Acrobat Pro and/or Microsoft Office software package and/or PrePress software.
AEXP2. Experience working in a distribution center environment.
English or French

On October 6, 2021, the Government of Canada announced details of its plans to require vaccination across the federal public service. As per the new Policy on COVID-19 Vaccination for the Core Public Administration Including the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, federal public servants in the Core Public Administration and members of the RCMP must attest to their vaccination status.
