In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)

Occupational Certification:
Possession of a valid Interprovincial Journeyman Cook Qualification (Red Seal) or Canadian Forces Military Cook Qualification Level 5 (QL5) or a manager approved** combination of education, training and/or experience.
**Manager approved combination is defined as one (1) year schooling with one (1) year of work experience or a graduate of a two (2) year culinary arts program.

Experience:

Significant* experience as a cook in an institutional, industrial or commercial food service establishment.
*Minimum of 2 years’ experience.

If you possess any of the following, your application must also clearly explain how you meet it (other qualifications)

Education:

Other cook related educational qualifications relevant to the position (e.g.: valid Food Handlers Course, baking, fast or short order cooking courses, etc.).

Proof of certification in a recognized field such as WHMIS, health, hygiene or safety.

Degree equivalency

Experience:

Experience working or volunteering in a mixed civilian and military environment.

Experience working in a kitchen in a military establishment.

Experience in supervision.

Experience in large quantity cooking.

Experience in preparing and issuing takeout meals.

Experience in preparing meals for formal dining.

Operational Requirements:
Ability to lift and carry items weighing up to 20 Kg in accordance with general safety practices.
Wear approved safety footwear and other personal protective equipment as required.
Willing and able to work shift work.
Willing and able to work weekends.
Willing and able to work overtime occasionally.

6. On October 6, 2021, the Government of Canada announced details of its plans to require vaccination across the federal public service.

As per the new Policy on COVID-19 Vaccination for the Core Public Administration Including the Royal Canadian Mounted Police federal public servants in the Core Public Administration and members of the RCMP must attest to their vaccination status. The requirement for employees to be fully vaccinated applies whether they are teleworking, working remotely or working on-site. This is a condition of employment and it applies to indeterminate (permanent), determinate (term), casual, and student hiring.
