On October 6, 2021, the Government of Canada announced details of its plans to require vaccination across the federal public service.
As per the new Policy on COVID-19 Vaccination for the Core Public Administration Including the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, federal public servants in the Core Public Administration and members of the RCMP must attest to their vaccination status. Graduation with a degree from a recognized university with acceptable specialization in physics, marine sciences, mathematics, engineering, signal analysis or another scientific field related to the duties of the position.
Experience in conducting quantitative analyses and interpreting multidisciplinary datasets using statistical and analytical tools or techniques associated with oceanography, underwater acoustics or environmental sciences.
Experience in the use of computer languages for programming and processing and managing datasets for scientific purposes.
Experience in carrying out scientific work in marine sciences, physical oceanography, or relevant experience in another environmental science.
Experience in contributions to the writing of scientific articles or technical papers.
Graduate degree (MSC, PhD) from a recognized university with an acceptable specialization in physics, marine sciences, mathematics, signal processing, engineering or another science relevant to the position.
Certificate or diploma from a recognized post-secondary program with specialization relevant to the duties of the position (e.g., qualifications related to physical sciences, ocean technologies, computer science or database acquisition, development and management).
Experience in carrying out scientific work in marine sciences.
Experience using statistical data analysis software.
Experience in multivariate statistical analysis of large ecological or oceanographic datasets, and the use of probability theory.
Experience in modelling in oceanography, underwater acoustics or environmental sciences, including the management of uncertainties related to input data and model approximation.
Experience in digital signal processing, spectral analysis or time series analysis, and manipulation of random variables.
Experience in spatial or temporal analysis of oceanographic, meteorological or environmental data.
Programming experience in Fortran, C, MATLAB, R, Python, Shell, Perl or SQL.
Experience in developing complex data transformation or loading procedures using languages such as SQL, PL/SQL, Python, R, and MATLAB.
Experience in project management and managing complex paperwork.
Be willing and able to work flexible hours and work overtime.
