The Public Prosecution Service of Canada (PPSC) is a federal government organization responsible for the prosecution of criminal offenses under federal jurisdiction. Our organization consists of approximately 1000 employees in regional offices across the country who all play a key role in strengthening Canada’s criminal justice system. The PPSC handles the prosecution of all Criminal Code offences in the territories as well as offences under all other federal legislation, such as the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act, the Youth Criminal Justice Act, and the Fisheries Act.
The Yukon Regional Office is responsible for prosecutions throughout Yukon Territory. The regional headquarters is located in Whitehorse. The region’s areas of prosecution focus are Criminal Code prosecutions, prosecutions under the CDSA, and regulatory prosecutions.
Whitehorse is Yukon’s capital and a major northern hub. It enjoys facilities, services and businesses far beyond the expectation of a city of 30,000. It's a big little city surrounded by wilderness with the amenities of a much larger destination paired with the friendly demeanor of a close-knit community.

The immediate need is to staff one (1) Paralegal position in the Yukon Regional Office for a specified period of one (1) year with the possibility of an extension. The results of this staffing process may also be used to staff similar positions with various tenures (term, indeterminate, etc.), linguistic requirements (bilingual imperative, English essential, etc.), language profiles (CBC/CBC, BBB/BBB, etc.), and/or security requirements (enhanced reliability, secret, etc.) as needs arise.

Education:
- Successful completion of two years of a post-secondary program with acceptable specialization in paralegal studies or a law related field OR an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.
Experience:
- Significant* experience in conducting legal research on medium complexity cases, files or projects.
- Experience in preparing, reviewing, and managing a wide variety of legal documents.
- Experience in maintaining and updating a legal information management system (such as iCase, Ringtail, PRISM, JUSTIN).
- Experience using Microsoft office Suite.
*Significant refers to the depth and breadth of experience normally associated with full-time performance of the duties for a period of one (1) year.
Operational Requirement:
- Requirement to travel which may include assignments on short notice and for extended periods.
- Ability and willingness to work outside normal working hours which may include working evenings, nights and weekends based on operational needs.
