Duties

Maintaining the health and well-being of our workforce is a RCMP priority. This position plays a leadership role in the delivery of a comprehensive wellness program within the Division including ensuring alignment with national wellness, fitness or corporate strategies related to mental health & well-being. This will be achieved through effective leadership, development and delivery of programs including but not limited to Fitness & Health Promotion, Peer-to-Peer support, Critical Incident Stress Management and Chaplaincy.

The incumbents will lead a team of fitness and health advisors in the development, implementation and promotion of programs and initiatives focussed on employee mental health, wellness and resilience. In addition to developing and leading the implementation of the division’s wellness strategy, this position provides leadership, coordination and integration of wellness reviews/evaluations. This position also serve as the key liaison between managers, employees, and other internal and external stakeholders (ex. health & wellness practitioners, other government departments, partner agencies, bargaining agents etc.) to ensure the RCMP maintains a best practice organizational wellness model.

Intent of the process

The intent of this process is to fill one AS-05 position in London, Ontario. A pool may be established of partially or fully assessed individuals that may be used to staff same or similar positions at various locations and/or of various tenures.

Should a Civilian Member (CM) be found qualified and selected for appointment, the appointment will not result in a change of status to the Public Service (PS) category for the CM.

*Recent and **significant experience developing and implementing a health and wellness initiatives in a corporate environment.
*Recent and **significant experience in fitness or health and wellness promotion in a corporate environment.
Experience researching and analysing information from a variety of sources to provide recommendations to management.
Experience in stakeholder engagement.
**Significant experience supervising human resources.

*Recent is defined as within the past 3 years.
**Significant is defined as a depth and breadth of experience normally acquired with having performed a broad range of related activities for a period two (2) years (cumulative).

Successful candidates will require a valid RCMP security clearance prior to appointment and throughout the tenure of their employment. The process to obtain an RCMP security clearance may involve but is not limited to a security/reliability interview and a field investigation which includes matters of criminal activity, verification of credit/financial status, reference checks, education, employment, etc. As such, the process may take several weeks or months to complete.

Preference

Preference will be given to veterans first and then to Canadian citizens and permanent residents, with the exception of a job located in Nunavut, where Nunavut Inuit will be appointed first.
