Duties

Provision of technical advice and quality assurance for facilities information products and services in state of the art innovative electronic spatial data, spatial information management technologies and spatial measurement services for PSPC and other federal government departments and agencies as clients.

Main activities :
1- Examines, validates and assesses the quality of spatial information/data; analyzes, formats, retrieves and displays spatial and other data; identifies and resolves data problems using established procedures and techniques
2- Prepares technical data, CAD drawings and documentation including instructions, time/cost estimates, defines deliverables and develops work plans
3- Evaluates client requirements for facilities and develops optimal solutions to meet functional, operational objective and leasing and accommodations demands.
4- Organizes and conducts on-site assignments to collect and process spatial information
5- Consults with, and provides technical advice, information and services to senior management, professionals, stakeholders, suppliers or clients

Intent of the process

The immediate need is to staff seven (7) indeterminate positions in Ottawa, Ontario. A pool of partially assessed candidates will be established through this process to staff bilingual positions, within the Department of Public Services and Procurement Canada, in Ottawa and Gatineau.

Acting opportunities may be offered to internal employees who qualify in the pool.

In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)

EDUCATION
Post-secondary diploma in Architectural Technology or Building Technology or Interior Design or other specialty relevant to the duties of the position

Degree equivalency

EXPERIENCE
1) Experience in providing advice in the domain of CAD or BIM related subject matter
2) Extensive* experience utilizing AutoCAD or Revit
3) Experience in developing building plans, drawings or specifications
4) Experience working on multiple projects or programs simultaneously

* Extensive experience is defined as having at least 3 years of full-time experience

1) Knowledge of techniques relevant to CAD drawing creation as applied to planning, design and construction

Security requirement: Secret security clearance

VACCINATION :
On October 6, 2021, the Government of Canada announced details (https://www.canada.ca/en/treasury-board-secretariat/news/2021/10/backgrounder-covid-19-vaccine-requirement-for-the-federal-workforce.html) of its plans to require vaccination across the federal public service.

As per the new Policy on COVID-19 Vaccination for the Core Public Administration Including the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (https://www.tbs-sct.gc.ca/pol/doc-eng.aspx?id=32694), federal public servants in the Core Public Administration and members of the RCMP must attest to their vaccination status. The requirement for employees to be fully vaccinated applies whether they are teleworking, working remotely or working on-site. This is a condition of employment and it applies to indeterminate (permanent), determinate (term), casual, and student hiring. Should you reach the point in the selection process where it is necessary to verify terms and conditions of employment then the hiring manager or a human resources representative will contact you in order to complete an attestation.

Preference

Preference will be given to veterans first and then to Canadian citizens and permanent residents, with the exception of a job located in Nunavut, where Nunavut Inuit will be appointed first.
