Duties

We are seeking a candidate with expertise in knowledge exchange and outreach related to forestry to join the Canadian Forest Service’s Northern Forestry Centre in Edmonton. The Knowledge Exchange and Outreach Officer plans, coordinates and organizes knowledge exchange and outreach activities for the Northern Forestry Center to promote the dissemination of research data and information. The successful candidate will use innovative and creative mechanisms to engage with various stakeholders including forestry professionals, academics, Indigenous communities and organizations as well as the public.

The Northern Forestry Centre is located in Treaty 6 territory, a gathering place and traveling route for diverse Indigenous peoples including the Cree, Blackfoot, Metis, Nakota Sioux, Haudenosaunee, Dene, Anishinaabe, Inuit and many others. In acknowledging this traditional territory, the Northern Forestry Centre also recognises the significance of the land to the Indigenous people who lived and continue to live here and the relationship they have had with forests since time immemorial.

Intent of the process

A pool of (fully or partially qualified) candidates may be established through this process to staff identical or similar positions at the FO-02 group and level within Natural Resources Canada with various tenures (determinate period or permanent), various language requirements (English Essential, French Essential, English or French Essential, or Bilingual), linguistic requirements (imperative and/or non-imperative) and profile(s) (BBB/BBB, CBC/CBC, CCC/CCC, etc.), various security requirements (Reliability status or Secret clearance), various conditions of employment and for various locations.

EDUCATION:
• Graduation with a degree in forestry or wood science from a recognized post-secondary institution or
• Graduation with a degree in a related science from a recognized post-secondary institution combined with acceptable experience.
