On October 6, 2021, the Government of Canada announced details of its plans to require vaccination across the federal public service.
As per the new Policy on COVID-19 Vaccination for the Core Public Administration Including the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, federal public servants in the Core Public Administration and members of the RCMP must attest to their vaccination status. The requirement for employees to be fully vaccinated applies whether they are teleworking, working remotely or working on-site. This is a condition of employment and it applies to indeterminate (permanent), determinate (term), casual, and student hiring. Should you reach the point in the selection process where it is necessary to verify terms and conditions of employment then the hiring manager or a human resources representative will contact you in order to complete an attestation.

To be appointed to the position, you must meet all essential qualifications. Some of the essential qualifications will be assessed with your application. Amongst the environmental officer's tasks, she/he has to :
• Provide advice and guidance.
• Analyzes environmental problems related to laws, regulations, policies and programs.
• Must carry out various projects according to the priorities of the environmental program.
• Must provide training and,
• Conduct environmental compliance audits.
The main environmental aspects considered are :
• Hazardous materials management
• Halocarbons
• Petroleum hydrocarbons storage systems management
• Contaminated sites management
• Species and their habitats
• Compliance with the Impact Assessment Act.
Fisheries and Oceans Canada (DFO) offers a stimulating work environment that favours work-family balance and a passionate team.
The Fisheries and Oceans Canada regional office is located at 104 Dalhousie Street, in the heart of the Old Port of Quebec, on the shores of the St. Lawrence River. The building is close to restaurants, parks, walking and running trails, etc. Employees have access to amenities such as showers, locker rooms and a secure bike room, allowing them to commute to work using the City of Quebec's bike path system. In addition, the Employee Social Club offers seasonal activity programming.
The position is located in Quebec City. However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, it is currently possible to perform the duties from home. Should conditions change, it is expected that the candidate will be available to perform his/her duties at 104 Dalhousie, Quebec City.
The intent of this process is to fill one (1) temporary position for a period of two (2) years in the Environmental Compliance Team.
As a result of this process, a pool of fully or partially qualified candidates will be established and may be used to fill similar positions, or identical, with various tenures and various language requirements, within Fisheries and Oceans Canada.

EDUCATION
- Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution, with acceptable specialization in physics, geology, chemistry or some other science relevant to the position.
EXPERIENCE
- Recent and significant experience* in providing environmental advice and recommendations.
Definition of 'Environment': a field related to environmental compliance management, pollution prevention, contaminated site management, environmental protection or resource conservation.
- Recent and significant experience* in analyzing and interpreting scientific data and writing environmental technical reports or documents.
- Recent and significant experience* in managing environmental projects and/or delivering environmental programs.
*Recent and significant experience means 2 years of experience acquired over the last 5 years.
