On October 6, 2021, the Government of Canada announced details of its plans to require vaccination across the federal public service.

As per the new Policy on COVID-19 Vaccination for the Core Public Administration Including the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, federal public servants in the Core Public Administration and members of the RCMP must attest to their vaccination status. The requirement for employees to be fully vaccinated applies whether they are teleworking, working remotely or working on-site. This is a condition of employment and it applies to indeterminate (permanent), determinate (term), casual, and student hiring. Intent of the process

A pool of qualified candidates may be established through this process to staff identical or similar positions at Natural Resources Canada with various tenures (determinate period or indeterminate), language requirements (English Essential, French Essential, English or French Essential and Bilingual (Imperative and/or Non-Imperative) and profile(s) (BBB/BBB, CBC/CBC, CCC/CCC, etc.).

In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)

Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution, with acceptable specialization in physics, geology, chemistry or some other science relevant to the position.

Note:
1.The courses for the specialization must be acceptable and must have been taken at a recognized post-secondary institution, but not necessarily within a degree program in the required specialization.

Degree equivalency

Experience in planning, managing or conducting research or technical studies within the field of earth sciences.
Experience in managing scientific or technical human* resources.
Experience in the planning and accounting for financial resources** allocated to research projects.
Experience in providing science advice, recommendations, writing and presenting briefing material to senior management (Director level and above).
Experience providing information in area of expertise to internal and external clients.

* Applicants must clearly demonstrate that they have human resources management experience - defined as: having supervised staff, assigned work, managed and assessed performance and development. This experience is acquired within the last five (5) years for a period of at least one (1) year.

** Applicants must show evidence of financial management experience - defined as: managing and being accountable for a budget. This experience is acquired within the last five (5) years for a period of at least one (1) year.

Graduation with a MSc or PhD degree from a recognized post-secondary institution, with acceptable specialization in natural sciences, geography, geomatics, geoanalysis or some other science relevant to the position.

Degree equivalency

Willing and able to travel within Canada (and abroad), including travel by car, rail and air.
Willing and able to work overtime as required and to adopt flexible work hours as per operational requirements.
