Intent of the process

A pool of candidates may be established and may be used to staff similar positions within the RCMP in Montreal, Quebec, on an indeterminate or specified period (including term, acting, or assignment) basis, with various linguistic profiles and various RCMP security clearances.

Should a Civilian Member (CM) be found qualified and selected for appointment, the appointment will not result in a change of status to the Public Service (PS) category for the CM.

In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)

Successful completion of two years of an acceptable post-secondary educational program in computer science, information technology, information management or another specialty relevant to the position to be staffed.

**Note that the completion of a college degree in any electronic engineering technology will be accepted as a relevant specialty.

Notes:
1.Indeterminate period incumbents of positions in the CS group on May 10, 1999, who do not possess the education prescribed above, are deemed to meet the minimum education standards based on their education, training and/or experience. They must be accepted as having met the minimum education standard whenever this standard is called for when staffing positions in the CS group.
2.It is the recognized educational institution (e.g. community college, CÉGEP or university) that determines if the courses taken by a candidate correspond to two years of a post-secondary program at the institution.
3.At the manager’s discretion, an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience may serve as an alternative to the minimum post-secondary education stated above. Whenever the minimum education is met using this alternative, it is met for the specific position only and must be re-assessed for other positions for which this alternative has been specified by the manager.

Degree equivalency

*Significant experience in the electronics technology field.
**Recent experience in the installation, programming and maintenance of technical equipment associated to security systems (ie. electronic access control systems, intrusion detection systems and/or closed circuit video systems).
**Recent experience in the installation, programming and maintenance of servers, applications, workstations and/or databases.
**Recent experience in troubleshooting and repair of electronic and electromechanical equipment.
**Recent experience in electronic system performance analysis, problem analysis and documentation.

*Significant experience is defined as a minimum of 2 years’ experience.
**Recent refers to experience gained within the last five years.

If you possess any of the following, your application must also clearly explain how you meet it (other qualifications)

Certification in either alarm or Voice/data/video disciplines.
Experience using enterprise applications to host access control systems, intrusion detection systems and closed circuit video systems.
Experience and/or training in locksmithing, including the installation and service of physical security hardware such as mortise locksets, cylindrical locksets, electric strikes and exit devices.

Willingness and ability to travel frequently across the province.
Willingness and ability to travel in Canada to assist on major event security deployments.
Willingness and ability to work overtime on short notice.

Conditions of employment

Top Secret security clearance - All applicants for positions within the Royal Canadian Mounted Police will be subject to a thorough security clearance process which includes an interview wherein questions may include (but not limited to), reference checks, previous employment, on-line activities, credit checks, alcohol and/or drug use.

Must hold a valid driver’s license.
Willingness and ability to travel.
Willingness and ability to work outdoors in various inclement weather conditions.
Willingness and ability to climb ladders and to work at height.
Willingness and ability to work in confined spaces.
Willingness and ability to lift boxes or equipment up to 23 kg.
