Workplace:

At the time this job opportunity was published, Indigenous Services Canada employees had not yet returned to their workplace due to the context of COVID-19. Therefore, the successful candidates may have to work remotely until further notice.

The official workplace for the position of the Regional Pharmacist is located in Montreal. Depending on the needs and requirements of the service, the possibility of a telework arrangement could be considered. Duties

Implementation of regional Drug Distribution Program (DDP) activities and professional pharmacy services to First Nations communities.

Providing consultation and expertise to First Nations leaders, service providers, health professionals and First Nations and Inuit Health Branch regional staff in the area of pharmaceuticals management and pharmaceutical sciences.

As a pharmacist, you are called upon to ensure the continuity of drug supply services as well as the monitoring of the safe management of medications in health care facilities in Aboriginal communities located on Quebec territory.

Intent of the process

This staffing process will be used to fill a position on an indeterminate basis.

A pool of candidates may be established to staff similar or identical positions at Indigenous Services Canada (ISC) or within other federal organizations with various tenure, linguistic profiles or security requirements, which may vary.

EDUCATION
Bachelor’s degree in pharmacy or Pharm. D or Masters in advanced pharmacotherapy or a Diplôme en parmacie d'hôpital, or equivalent degree from another province.

PROFESSIONAL ATTESTATION
Member in good standing of the Ordre des pharmaciens du Québec.

Degree equivalency

EXPERIENCE
Significant experience (minimum of 6 years) and recent experience (acquired less than 5 years ago) in hospital pharmacy or a combination of experience in hospital and community setting.

If you possess any of the following, your application must also clearly explain how you meet it (other qualifications)

Experience with First Nation, Cree or Inuit stakeholders.
Experience with hospital formulary management.

Information on language requirements

KNOWLEDGE
Knowledge of Quebec provincial healthcare and social services network.
Knowledge of current pharmaceutical practice and pharmacotherapy, notably current treatment guidelines, optimal drug usage and drug classification systems.
Knowledge of relevant federal and provincial legislation, such as the Canada Health Act, the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act, the Pharmacy Act, as well as the various regulations that govern pharmacy practice in Quebec.

Ability to communicate information efficiently, orally and in writing, with various audiences.
Ability to elaborate policies and/or strategies, design criteria and implement procedures that operationalize policy change.
Ability to analyse and interpret pharmaceutical data and provide advice for the Branch.

On October 6, 2021, the Government of Canada announced details of its plans to require
vaccination across the federal public service.

As per the new Policy on COVID-19 Vaccination for the Core Public Administration Including the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, federal public servants in the Core Public Administration and members of the RCMP must attest to their vaccination status. The requirement for employees to be fully vaccinated applies whether they are teleworking, working remotely or working on-site. This is a condition of employment and it applies to indeterminate (permanent), determinate (term), casual, and student hiring.
