The intent of this process is to establish shortlist(s) of candidates that will be used to fill current and anticipatory CS-03 & 04 positions with National Defence.

Information you must provide

Your résumé.

In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)

Successful completion of two years of an acceptable post-secondary educational program in computer science, information technology, information management or another specialty relevant to the position to be staffed.

Notes:

1. Indeterminate period incumbents of positions in the CS group on May 10, 1999, who do not possess the education prescribed above, are deemed to meet the minimum education standards based on their education, training and/or experience. They must be accepted as having met the minimum education standard whenever this standard is called for when staffing positions in the CS group.

2. It is the recognized educational institution (e.g. community college, CÉGEP or university) that determines if the courses taken by a candidate correspond to two years of a post-secondary program at the institution.

3. At the manager’s discretion, an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience may serve as an alternative to the minimum post-secondary education stated above. Whenever the minimum education is met using this alternative, it is met for the specific position only and must be re-assessed for other positions for which this alternative has been specified by the manager.

Degree equivalency

1. Experience in applications development and support.
2. Experience in developing, and/or delivering, and/or managing IM/IT services to meet business needs.
3. Experience in application development using C#, .net framework and front end development languages/frameworks (such as JavaScript, React).PS: Other object oriented languages may be considered (e.g. Java).
4. Experience in application development leveraging databases (e.g. relational databases such as MS SQL, Postgre SQL; NoSQL data bases such as MangoDB, Cassandra).
5. Experience in application development using public cloud platforms (such as Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure, etc.).
6. Experience in conducting IT research and feasibility studies in response to business needs.
7. Experience providing advice to project teams for the architecture and design of IT solutions.
8. Experience providing technical services or advice in applications development.
9. Experience preparing and providing technical advice and guidance to senior management.

For Technical Advisor positions (CS-03), cumulative experience of approximately 2 years in the last 3 years may apply.

For Senior Technical Advisor positions (CS-04), cumulative experience of approximately 3 years in the last 5 years may apply. The depth and breadth of experience normally associated with having performed a broad range of complex related activities.

Experience may be adjusted depending on the positions being staffed.

Additional qualifications may be required for some positions and you may be contacted and asked to submit information or to be further assessed.

If you possess any of the following, your application must also clearly explain how you meet it (other qualifications)

Bachelor or above in Computer Science or Information Technologies or Information Management or a discipline related to these areas of expertise.

Training or Certifications relevant to the domain of expertise.

Experience delivering IT solutions using Agile/DevOps methodologies (Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery/Deployment).

Experience in developing on a Customer Relationships Management platform (Open source, MS Dynamics, etc.).

Experience in developing applications leveraging cloud technologies (e.g. Infrastructure as a Service, Platform as a Service, and Software as a Service).

Training or Experience in IT Security (Ethical Hacking).

Experience developing IT solutions using containers and Kubernetes.

Experience in developing, orchestrating and managing Application Programming Interfaces.

Experience in developing and managing enterprise search engines (e.g. Solr, ElasticSearch).

Experience developing Web Content using WebCMS such as Drupal.

Experience in Data Analytics (descriptive, predictive, and prescriptive).

Experience in at least one of the Enterprise Architecture Domains: Data Architecture, Application Architecture, Technical Architecture, Security Architecture.
