Our Current Work Environment:

Our employees are our single biggest asset and our employees’ health and safety is of the upmost importance.

In keeping with public health guidance, the Department of Finance Canada has established a remote work stance that we will maintain at this time. This is dependent upon how the public health situation evolves. While the department is working remotely, we are committed to supporting employees with the necessary tools to work effectively from home until our return to an office environment.

The Department of Finance Canada is open to considering telework arrangements requests for any new recruit who may wish to defer relocation to the National Capital Region* while we continue our remote work stance.

*The National Capital Region, also referred to as Canada's Capital Region, is an official federal designation for the Canadian capital of Ottawa, Ontario, the neighbouring city of Gatineau, Quebec, and surrounding urban and rural communities.

Duties

Master’s graduates hired under the Economist and Policy Analyst stream are involved in all aspects of the Department's work. They conduct policy analysis and forecasts, perform research, and provide recommendations on a wide variety of public policy issues. Recruits can choose to specialize in a particular area of the Department of Finance Canada, or can gain experience in a number of different areas of the Department.

Intent of the process

Only applicants meeting the essential qualifications will be included in a pool of qualified candidates, which hiring managers from the Department of Finance Canada and other federal government organizations may draw on until December 2022.

As this is a collective staffing process, the qualifications required may differ from one position to another. Our staffing process allows hiring managers to identify their individual needs for the position they are looking to fill. One or more of the asset qualifications may be used to identify candidates who are a good potential fit for a particular position. Other criteria may also be used such as official languages or organizational needs.

Only applicants who meet the essential qualifications will be advised by e-mail that they have been placed in the pool of candidates.
