Duties

The Office of the Chief Actuary (OCA) is looking for a dynamic and motivated individual to take on the role of Administrative Coordinator. The incumbent will be responsible for day-to-day administrative functions, including but not limited to: managing the Chief Actuary’s calendar, arranging meetings and events, making travel arrangements using STS, and budget tracking. Working extensively with Microsoft Word and Excel to edit and manipulate a variety of reports, including actuarial reports, will be another important part of the role.

The Office of the Chief Actuary is an independent unit within the Office of the Superintendent of Financial Institutions (OSFI). OSFI is an independent agency of the Government of Canada, established in 1987 to contribute to the safety and soundness of the Canadian financial system. OSFI supervises and regulates federally registered banks and insurers, trust and loan companies, as well as private pension plans subject to federal oversight. It also offers actuarial services to the Government of Canada through the OCA.

ESSENTIAL EDUCATION
- A diploma from a post-secondary institution OR an acceptable combination of education, relevant experience and/or training.

Degree equivalency

ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE
- Experience using word processing AND spreadsheet software programs.
- Experience in providing administrative support services to an Executive in all of the following areas:
a. Managing an Executive calendar and inbox
b. Ensuring proper document management using an electronic filing system
c. Coordinating and managing the flow of information for approvals
d. Compiling documents and preparing meeting packages
e. Preparing straight forward correspondence to key stakeholders
f. Proofreading documents such as briefing notes, memos and routine correspondence for quality assurance purposes
- Experience in coordinating financial activities, such as monitoring budgets and tracking expenditures.

ASSET EDUCATION
- Successful completion of post-secondary education in office administration, or another specialty relevant to the position to be staffed.

As a Separate Agency, the Office of the Superintendent of Financial Institutions (OSFI) appoints employees in accordance with the Public Service Employment Act (PSEA). OSFI is named in Schedule V of the Financial Administration Act (FAA) and it offers the same pension and benefits plans as the core Federal Public Service. In addition to this, OSFI employees obtain a minimum of 4 weeks of vacation leave per year, earn a competitive salary, and are eligible for an annual performance bonus.
