Duties:

This position, within Indigenous Services Canada as part of the Information Management Branch, will support the Geomatics Services team with the modelling and analysis of a wide range of geospatial datasets and web services, the development and publishing of internal and external-facing Geomatics solutions and the modernization of the departmental GIS infrastructure.

Due to Covid-19, our teams work virtually from home using the latest technologies to stay connected. Work from a remote location may be possible depending on the position to be staffed and following approval by the manager.

Intent of the process

Intent of the process :

The intent is to staff two (2) positions with various language requirement (English or French essential and Bilingual BBB/BBB) on an indeterminate basis located in Gatineau, Qc with the Indigenous Services Canada (ISC). If you are found qualified and opportunities become available, you could be considered to staff similar or identical positions at Indigenous Services Canada (ISC) and Crown-Indigenous Relations and Northern Affairs Canada (CIRNAC) with various locations, linguistic profiles, requirement as well as tenures and/or the security clearance, which may vary according to the position being staffed.

In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)

EDUCATION:

Successful completion of two years of an acceptable post-secondary educational program in computer science, information technology, information management or another specialty relevant to the position to be staffed OR an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.

Degree equivalency

EXPERIENCE:

• Minimum of one (1) year of recent* experience in developing technical specifications or model for the design, development, integration or enhancement of IT solutions in order to meet business requirements.

• Minimum of one (1) year of recent* experience in developing code from system design documentation.

• Minimum of one (1) year of recent* experience in preparing technical documentation.

• Minimum of one (1) year of recent* experience in the configuration or maintenance of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) in a team environment

• Experience using Geographic, GIS or Geomatics tools and technologies.

• Experience using Relational Database Management System (RDBMS) Oracle

*Recent experience is defined as a within the last five (5) years.

If you possess any of the following, your application must also clearly explain how you meet it (other qualifications)

EXPERIENCE:

- Recent* experience in developing web applications with JavaScript , TypeScript, HTML, CSS.

- Experience in maintaining an Enterprise Geospatial Database ( ArcSDE/ Oracle Geodatabase including SDO or spatial functions.)

- Experience in using ESRI ArcGIS desktop version 10.5.1 and above.

- Experience with ETL tools and data verification and validation techniques, methods and tools.

- Experience in programming with the Python language.

*Recent experience is defined as a minimum of 1 year of experience within approximately the last five (5) years.
