Student work term: This work term is from 15 September 2021 to 1 September 2022 (up to 18.75 hours per week) with a possibility of extension.
Rate of pay: $22.04 to $27.73 per hour (varies as per the level of education and experience)

Duties

The duties and responsibilities of this student position are to:

- assign air toxics concentrations to residential histories for disease cases and controls,
- conduct statistical analyses to characterize exposure-response relationships while adjusting for the influence of possible confounding variables,
- conduct numerical analyses to provide insight on the shape of the exposure-response relationship,
- provide written materials that summarize existing literature, describe study methods and findings, and contextualize findings.

The work is expected to form part of the M.Sc. studies of the successful candidate.

The work will be done in collaboration with Professor Paul Villeneuve, Queen’s University.

Work environment

The work will take place in an office environment at Queen’s University (Kingston, Ontario).

The work will support priority research on the impacts of toxic air pollutants at Environment and Climate Change Canada.

The student must be enrolled, with full-time student status, in a Master’s program at Queen’s University to expedite collaboration for the described research.

Education:

Graduation with an acceptable undergraduate degree from a recognized post-secondary institution in science, engineering, or other field related to the duties of the position.

(The student must be enrolled, with full-time student status, in a Master’s program at Queen’s University to expedite collaboration for the described research.)

Degree equivalency

Experience:

1. Experience analyzing data.

2. Experience using software packages for data analysis such as R, STATA, IGOR, SAS or similar.

3. Experience in spatiotemporal air pollution impact modelling.

4. Experience reporting scientific/technical data.

5. Experience in conducting literature reviews and meta-analysis.

The following will be applied / assessed at a later date (essential for the job)
