Detachment Services Assistant provides administrative and operational support services for police officers and other employees at a Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) detachment. This position also provides front counter and telephone assistance, services and information to the general public.

Intent of the process

At this time, there is one (1) vacancy in Fairview, Alberta. Applicants are encouraged to apply ONLY if they are willing and able to work in or relocate to Fairview.

The intent of this process is to staff a position on a temporary basis and to establish a pool of qualified candidates with various tenures (i.e. indeterminate, term, deployment, acting, assignment and secondment).

Should a CM be found qualified and selected for appointment, the appointment will not result in a change of status to another category for the member.

- Successful completion of two years secondary school or an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience*

* Proof of education will be required prior to appointment

Degree equivalency

EXPERIENCE
- Experience in the provision of administrative support services including three of the following: data entry, preparing correspondence, ordering office supplies, filing, or processing mail
- Experience in using computer applications such as spreadsheets, word processing, or databases.
- Experience providing services to internal and external clients / general public, via telephone or in person.

ABILITIES AND SKILLS
- Ability to communicate effectively in writing.

ASSET QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience working in a law enforcement and/or legal environment

OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS

- Willingness and ability to occasionally travel for work or training purposes using various modes of transportation.
