Education:
EDU: Graduation with a degree from a recognized post- secondary institution, with acceptable specialization in physics, geology, chemistry or some other science relevant to the position.
Note: The courses for the specialization must be acceptable and must have been taken at a recognized post-secondary institution, but not necessarily within a degree program in the required specialization.
Experience:
EX1: Experience conducting hydrometric studies including data analysis, review and modelling.
EX2: Experience providing scientific or technical advice.
EX3: Experience writing scientific or technical documents.
EX4: Experience collaborating with internal and external partners.
EX4: Experience using Microsoft office tools for word processing, spreadsheets and presentations.
EX6: Experience planning, designing and implement training, workshops or seminars

K1: Knowledge of the principles and practices of hydrometric monitoring
K2: Knowledge of the Water Survey of Canada’s standard operating procedures

Asset Education:
AEDU: Successful completion of the Water Survey of Canada’s Career Development Program or their
Apprenticeship or Professional Training Program for Hydrometric Technologists.
Asset Experience:
AEX1: Experience interpreting, processing or analyzing hydrometric data to national standards.
AEX2: Experience using Water Survey of Canada’s hydrometric data software and databases (e.g. Aquarius, HYDEX, HYDAT).
AEX3: Experience working with staff in a range of positions from apprentices to regional managers.
AEX4: Experience writing standard operating procedures and guidance documents.
Operational Requirements:
This position requires travel on an occasional basis for fieldwork or to participate in meetings, workshops or conferences.
Reliability Status security clearance
Condition of Employment:
- Driver’s license
- Requirement to occasionally undertake fieldwork that may include working in and around water, wading, working on cableways and bridges or on ice.
