Detachment Services Assistant provides administrative and operational support services for police officers and other employees at a Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) detachment. This position also provides front counter and telephone assistance, services and information to the general public.
At this time, there is one (1) vacancy in High Praire, Alberta. Applicants are encouraged to apply ONLY if they are willing and able to work in or relocate to High Prairie.
This process will initially be used to staff one position on an indeterminate basis and to establish a pool of qualified candidates with various tenures (i.e. indeterminate, term, deployment, acting, assignment and secondment).
Should a CM be found qualified and selected for appointment, the appointment will not result in a change of status to another category for the member.

EXPERIENCE
- Experience in the provision of administrative support services including three of the following: data entry, preparing correspondence, ordering office supplies, filing, or processing mail
- Experience in using computer applications such as spreadsheets, word processing, or databases.
- Experience providing services to internal and external clients / general public, via telephone or in person.
ABILITIES AND SKILLS
- Ability to communicate effectively in writing.
ASSET QUALIFICATIONS
Successful completion of secondary school education
ASSET QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience working in a law enforcement and/or legal environment
- Experience working with Aboriginal communities
- Training and/or experience in providing financial support services such as the collection and recording of monies received, handling petty cash funds, verifying supplier invoices, preparing invoices
- Experience in maintaining a law enforcement database such as: Police Reporting Occurrence System (PROS) or Canadian Police Information (CPIC)
- Experience in providing records management services such as indexing, cross-referencing, filing, retrieving, retaining, archiving or destroying data.
OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
- Willingness and ability to work in a busy police environment, including exposure to unsettling and/or graphic material
- Willingness and ability to work overtime, as required
- Willingness and ability to obtain and maintain a valid driver’s license
- Willingness and ability to travel for work and/or training purposes using various modes of transportation (including owned or leased government transport, commercial and light aircraft and up to and including remote locations).
