Under the supervision of a research scientist, the selected student will be responsible for designing and conducting a review of the published scientific literature on methods for estimating agricultural crop yields from remotely-sensed data. The student will also contribute to the preparation of a report or manuscript based on results of the literature review.
The Landscape Science and Technology Division (LSTD) of Environment and Climate Change Canada is located at the National Wildlife Research Centre on the campus of Carleton University in Ottawa, which allows for close collaboration between government researchers and the students and faculty of Carleton University. LSTD brings together researchers in the complementary fields of remote sensing, geomatics, and landscape ecology, who together conduct research that addresses environmental issues at large spatial extents. This position will provide the opportunity to collaborate with researchers in government and academia.

The student must be currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s, Master's, or Ph.D. program at a recognized post-secondary institution at which they have full-time student status in a program with a geomatics or remote sensing component. The student must have completed at least one university course in remote sensing, at either the undergraduate or graduate level, or a college course in remote sensing.
Experience:
- Experience conducting reviews of the scientific literature, including development of literature search terms and use of databases (e.g. Web of Science) to find potentially relevant literature.

Knowledge:
- Knowledge of the fundamentals of remote sensing
- Knowledge of methods to estimate vegetation characteristics (e.g. leaf area index, Normalized Difference Vegetation Index) from remotely-sensed imagery
