This project involves the study of Triassic stratigraphy and sedimentology in the Western Canada Sedimentary Basin in northeastern British Columbia. The study will begin by focussing on existing samples collected from sections on Williston Lake, which will be examined utilizing a variety of techniques, including macro- and micro-paleontology, petrography, and SEM. Future years may include the possibility for fieldwork in northeastern British Columbia. The project aims to improve the resolution of Late Triassic biozonations and to understand the relationship between fossil occurrences and sedimentology, in order to refine regional stratigraphic framework models as part of the GEM GeoNorth Program of the Geological Survey of Canada.
