Education

ED: A secondary school diploma or employer-approved alternatives.

Degree equivalency

Experience

EX1: Significant and recent* experience in preparing mechanical layouts, sketches, and drawings, which constitutes parts detail, assemblies, and installations for aircraft structures, interiors, and mechanical systems.
EX2: Significant and recent* experience using Autodesk AutoCAD, Inventor, or equivalent software (solidworks, draftsight) in preparing aircraft mechanical and electrical drawings.

*Definition of significant and recent experience:
• Significant experience means at least three years of relevant experience.
• Recent is defined as approximately within the last 5 years.

Education

AED: Successful completion of a recognized post-secondary school program (1500 hours or more) of studies in mechanical/industrial drafting or an acceptable combination of education, training, and experience.

Degree equivalency

Experience

AEX1: Experience in design of aircraft parts and subassemblies, for example structures, interiors.
AEX2: Experience with avionics systems design (aircraft wiring diagrams)
AEX3: Experience with both fixed wing and rotorcraft.
AEX4: Experience in technical writing, preparing instructions for continued airworthiness, or preparing technical approval documents for aircraft modification or repair projects.
AEX5: Experience with processes and documentation requirements aircraft certification by Transport Canada, FAA, or EASA.

K2 : Drafting standard practices.

A3: Ability to prepare mechanical layouts, sketches, and drawings, which constitutes parts detail, assemblies, and installations for aircraft structures, interiors, and mechanical systems.
