You will manage the talented team of engineers and technicians responsible for the 24/7/365 day operations of NRCan’s ground segment. This includes the three ground stations in Prince Albert Saskatchewan, Gatineau, Quebec and Inuvik, Northwest Territories, as well as the Earth Observation Data Management System. You will be part of the Canada Centre for Remote Sensing, where you will be part of building NRCan’s ground segment to its full capacity and will be able to apply long-term strategic thinking to ground segment operations.

The intent of this process is to fill one bilingual CBC/CBC position on an indeterminate basis.
A pool of fully qualified candidates may be established to staff identical or similar positions with various tenures (determinate period, indeterminate, and acting etc.), various language requirements and profile(s) (bilingual imperative or non-imperative), various security requirements, various conditions of employment and for various locations. The results of this process can be used by other organizations within the federal public service.

Education
Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution in mechanical engineering, civil engineering, electrical engineering, aeronautical engineering, geological engineering, naval architecture or some other engineering specialty relevant to the duties of the position.
Experience:
· Managing resources (financial and human) to maintain day-to-day operations and to complete major projects working as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
· Leading projects and contracts, including negotiating with stakeholders.
· Formulating business or project proposals, or contributing to strategic planning initiatives.
· Preparing, reviewing, evaluating technical documentation (for example; specifications, studies, reports, proposals, or presentations).
· Developing recommendations and providing expert advice to senior management* and / or industry officials.
*Senior management is defined as Director-level and above.
Asset Qualification
Education:
· Graduate degree in a relevant field (e.g. MEng, MBA, MPA, MSc, etc.)

· Developing long range plans
· Consulting / engaging with multiple stakeholders, for example, research centres, provincial and territorial agencies, public and private sector organizations, or Indigenous organizations

The linguistic profile of the position to be staffed is bilingual imperative CBC/CBC, however Bilingual non imperative CBC/CBC may be considered if no candidates meet the linguistic profile.
