Duties

The successful candidate will join the National Security Intervention Program and will be responsible for: applying psychological tools to assess risk of violence, providing training to staff on the use of psychological tools, contributing to the development of the National Intervention Program and providing advice to management based on their psychological expertise.

Intent of the process

The immediate need is to staff one (1) position on an indeterminate basis, with a linguistic profile of Bilingual Imperative CBC/CBC and an RCMP Top Secret security clearance.

A pool of candidates may be established and may be used to staff similar positions within the RCMP in the National Capital Region on an indeterminate or specified period (including term, acting, or assignment) basis, with various bilingual linguistic profiles (Bilingual Imperative BBB/BBB, CBC/CBC) and various RCMP security clearances.

Should a Civilian Member (CM) be found qualified and selected for appointment, the appointment will not result in a change of status to the Public Service (PS) category for the CM.

In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)

Education:
Graduation with a master's degree from a recognized post-secondary institution with specialization in personnel psychology, psychometrics, industrial psychology, clinical psychology or some other specialty relevant to the position.

Note: The courses for the specialization must be acceptable and must have been taken at a recognized post-secondary institution, but not necessarily within a degree program in the required specialization.

Degree equivalency

Occupational Certification (essential):
1. Registration for autonomous practice as a psychologist with a College of Psychologists in Canada (areas of declared competency in clinical psychology and counselling psychology), or eligible for registration as a psychologist with a College of Psychologists in Canada.

Experience:
1. Experience in providing psychological intervention (e.g., crisis intervention, psychological first-aid following critical incident, short-term counselling, psychotherapy)
2. Experience working with and providing advice and guidance to a variety of partners, stakeholders, clients or management and liaising with external mental health providers or specialists.
3. Experience in the use of clinical tools to evaluate violence, recidivism and risk mitigation.

Assets Experience:
1. Experience in working with specialized units within police or military organizations.
2. Experience in providing psychological assessment services to children and adults
3. Experience in assessing risk and evaluating predisposition to criminal behaviours, psycho-social risk factors and mental health concerns.
