The Office Environment
Service Canada is committed to protecting the health and safety of employees through the COVID Pandemic. Due to the nature of our work, there is a need for our support staff to work onsite. Training
We provide extensive training and development to allow you to acquire comprehensive and up-to-date knowledge of Service Canada's programs and services. Training is provided either in person or virtually with subject matter experts or online, self-directed.

Duties include but not limited to:

Program Support Clerk (PSC)
• Obtain, input, maintain and extract data and documentation related to applications, claims, and other administrative forms
• Analyse and validate data and/or documentation for accuracy, completeness, and compliance.
• Carry out fact-finding activities to research and retrieve information to determine entitlement
• Communicate with clients and employers to obtain and provide required information verbally and in writing
• Identify and refer complex cases to the appropriate level for decision within clearly established procedures and guidelines

Business Support Assistant (BSA)
• Maintain inventory of office supplies
• Prepare correspondence, reports, statements, forms, presentations, applications
• Sort and file documents according to established filing systems
• Process incoming and outgoing mail, manually or electronically
• Respond to telephone, in person or electronic enquiries

Support Clerk
• A high-volume client service environment providing clerical support, including office and warehouse environments
• Receiving, classifying, sorting and/or registering initial mail/client information
• Maintaining and updating databases and tracking systems
• Operating various types of office equipment e.g. postage meters, high-speed printers and scanners
• Physical Effort: When filing documents, lifting and moving boxes (e.g. lifting weights of up to 23kg)

Intent of the process

The intent of this process is to create 3 pools of qualified candidates within the Benefits Delivery Services Branch in Winnipeg, MB.

• Program Support Clerk (CR04)
• Business Support Assistant (CR04)
• Support Clerk (CR03)

These pools could also be used to staff similar positions of various tenures within Employment and Social Development Canada in Winnipeg, MB.

Initially a random selection among applications will be made. Randomly selected applicants will be assessed and those who meet all the essential qualifications will be placed in the qualified pool(s). Subsequent random selections may be made from the remaining applications and assessments may be conducted at a later date.

Education:
• Secondary school diploma or an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.
