Assessment accommodation

Assessments will take place in August and September. Throughout the selection process, it is your responsibility to make yourself available for all testing and interview dates to which you are invited. If you fail to attend any of the scheduled testing or interview sessions, you will be deemed to no longer be interested in this selection process, and as a result, you will no longer be considered.

The application of the asset qualifications listed below, application of the organizational or operational needs listed below or the use of random selection may be used in the referral of candidates from this process.

Duties

Passport Clerk:

• Scans applications. photos and a wide variety of supporting documents using IRIS computer system, other related databases and equipment (computer keyboard, scanner, etc.).
• Gathers data for the preparation of the Manager's periodic reports on mail costs and courier service activities which will help to facilitate cost-recovery practices.
• Extracts and manipulates automated and manual information.
• Prepares routine and non-routine information for reporting and tracking purposes (such as information on rejected files, files, referrals to calls, complex and semi-complex files).

Passport Printing Support Clerk:

• Verifies that all data received (photo card , mailing address, applicant information) are accurate and meet quality standards for printing processing.
• Identifies and reports errors to Quality Control Examiners for corrective action.
• Assigns the travel document printing job to a printer
• Performs final verification of printed passport documents.

Work environment

Positions are located with the Print Centre and the Processing centre of the Passport Program in Gatineau.

Intent of the process

Immediate need: The passport program is preparing for increased volumes and is quickly hiring staff. A pool of qualified candidates will be created following this process to fill short-term casual positions, with possibility of extension for a term or inderteminate position.

A pool of qualified candidates will be created to fill the above mentioned positions and similar positions within the passport program in Gatineau for various durations: indeterminate and term positions, deployment, or assignment/secondment opportunities.

Please note that the pool could be used to fill similar positions with various language requirements, various security requirements, various conditions of employment, various operational requirements, various organizational needs or various durations (interims, determinate or indeterminate periods, assignments, secondment periods, deployments, occasional contracts) within the passport program in Gatineau.

EDUCATION:

Secondary school diploma or employer-approved alternative (satisfactory score on the General Intelligence Test 320 -PSC test approved as an alternative to a Secondary School diploma).

Degree equivalency

EXPERIENCE:

Recent* and significant** experience working in an office environment such as data entry and maintaining files.

*Recent refers to an experience acquired within the last 5 years.

**Significant refers to an experience acquired over a period of approximately six (6) months or more.

OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

Willing and able to work overtime as required sometimes on short notice.

Willing and able to perform your duties from different work locations.

Willing and able to work Shift Work.

Be able to lift or move heavy objects weighing 16 Kg or less, such as boxes or trollies carrying documents.

Position subject to temporary assignments – Work in a different position than his/her substantive position, within the assignment area, for variable durations according to operational requirements.

Conditions of employment: This element is not used for the pre-screening. The security clearance is the responsibility of the department. Candidates have to meet the security clearance and fill the requested forms upon selection. Candidates must meet and respect the mentioned conditions of employment during their employment.

Please note you will not be considered to be in travel status or on government business when you are called for assessments as part of this selection process. Consequently, travel expenses will not be reimbursed, as you will be responsible for travel costs.

A random selection may be used to determine which candidates will be assessed within this selection process.
