Fisheries and Oceans Canada (Maurice Lamontagne Institute) and McGill University are calling for applications for a Master’s of Science (MSc) in the field of the ecology of invasive species. This two-year project, starting in Sept 2021, will be conducted under the DFO Freshwater Fish and Fish Habitat Program. The two main objectives of this project are to (1) understand the ecology of round and tubenose gobies, including feeding efficiencies, and critical thermal maximum experiments and (2) testing the invasion front hypothesis by comparing feeding rates of recent and older invasive populations of the tubenose goby.
We are looking at hiring a student for this two (2) years project to work at Fisheries and Oceans Canada.

Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution with specialization in a biological science.
*The student must currently be registered or eligible to enroll in the Master's Program with Honors in Biology.
Experience working on the field and in the laboratory.

Knowledge of the software ArcGIS.
Knowledge of freshwater species ecology related to global changes (e.g. changes in temperature and dissolved oxygen).
Knowledge of laboratory techniques and equipment used in maintaining freshwater fish in an aquaculture setting.
