You MUST clearly demonstrate in writing how you meet the Essential Education, and Experience requirements. Provide examples and describe the work/duties you have performed. Failure to do so may result in your application not being considered further during the screening process.

Intent of the process

A qualified group of candidates may be identified and may be used to staff future vacancies, similar or lower-level positions, for term, permanent and acting, at full or part-time hours.

This selection process may initially be used to staff the position on a temporary basis.

Once established, the qualified pool will be valid for one year, with the possibility of extension.

Should a Civilian Member (CM) be found qualified and selected for appointment, the appointment will not result in a change of status to the Public Service (PS) category for the CM.

In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)

Certification:
Possession of a valid Interprovincial Red Seal Journeyperson Certificate as an Automotive Service Technician

Experience:
1. Recent (within the last two years) hands-on experience in repairing automobiles and/or light trucks in an automotive repair shop.
2. Recent (within the last two years) experience installing electronic vehicle accessories.

1. Knowledge of diagnostic techniques and repair procedures for mechanical, electrical and electronic control systems of vehicles.

ASSET QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Experience installing mobile communication equipment.
2. Experience in welding and metal fabricating techniques.
3. Experience using a computer for garage management programs and vehicle repair manuals.
4. Recent (within the last two years) hands-on experience in repairing within the range of the Journeyman’s certification and/or direct experience in the field of first responder vehicle fit-up such as, Police, Ambulance and Fire.
5. Recent (within the last two years) hands-on experience in repairing hybrid and/or electric vehicles.

OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
1. Willing and able to travel by various modes of transportation (including commercial and light aircraft) up to and including remote locations.
2. Willing and able to work overtime.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
1. Possession of a valid Canadian Driver’s licence equivalent to a BC Class 5.
2. A driver’s abstract with no more than 2 minor violations in the last 12 months*
*A copy of the driver’s abstract will be requested during the assessment phase and may be requested again upon successful completion of the security clearance process for the successful candidate.
