As a Civil Aviation Safety Inspector for National Maintenance Operations, you will conduct aviation certification, safety oversight and related service activities of individuals, enterprises, organizations and Minister’s delegates as they specifically relate to aircraft and aeronautical product maintenance, to assure compliance with the Civil Aviation regulatory framework, ensure aircraft airworthiness, and promote a proactive enterprise-wide Safety Management Systems (SMS) culture, for the safety of civil aviation in Canada and abroad.
The immediate need is to fill an indeterminate, English essential position in Mississauga, ON.
There is an anticipatory need in Dorval, QC.
A pool of qualified candidates may be established to staff identical or similar positions with various tenures and various linguistic profiles within Transport Canada.

Education:
-A secondary school diploma, and
-Successful completion of a post-secondary diploma/degree in aircraft maintenance or an acceptable combination of education, training and experience related to aircraft maintenance.
Occupational Certification:
Valid Canadian Aircraft Maintenance Engineer (AME) Licence.
Experience:
-EX1: Extensive* and recent** experience in the inspection, modification, repair of aeronautical products;
-EX2: Recent** experience in the development or application of quality assurance systems*** in a Canadian approved aviation maintenance organization.
*Extensive, the performance of complex activities in a wide variety of situations and has five (5) or more years of industry experience. Experience demonstrating an increasing level of responsibility throughout their career.
**Recent, experience acquired within the last 5 years.
***Quality assurance systems can include other equivalent aviation maintenance activities.
Asset Experience:
AEX1 : Extensive* experience working in an environment dealing with:
- Airline operations (CAR 705) with a national and international scope, OR;
- Large aircraft inspection, modification and repair, OR
-The supervision, management, certification or oversight of enterprises with a Safety Management System (SMS), OR;
- The supervision or management of quality assurance systems.
*Extensive = Candidate has performed complex activities in a wide variety of situations.

Operational Requirements:
-Willing and able to occasionally work outside core business hours and on weekends.
-Willing and able to occasionally perform inspection and oversight activities in various aviation environments that may be hazardous.
Secret security clearance
-Must be willing and able to travel frequently.
