The intent of this process is to staff the following position at Crown-Indigenous Relations and Northern Affairs Canada in Whitehorse, Yukon:
- Environmental Officer
Although the intent is to staff the position in Whitehorse, Yukon alternative working arrangements including telework or a flexible schedule may be available and will be determined on a case by case basis dependent on operational feasibility at the time of hiring.
A pool of candidates will be established to staff similar or identical position at Crown-Indigenous Relations and Northern Affairs Canada (CIRNAC) or other federal departments and agencies located in Whitehorse, Yukon, with various tenures, linguistic profiles or security requirements.

EDUCATION:
• Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution with an acceptable specialization in environmental studies, environmental management, environmental sciences or some other science relevant to the position.
EXPERIENCE:
• Experience compiling, synthesizing and analyzing scientific data from various sources.
• Experience contributing to the creation of one or more of the following: environmental impact assessments, environmental site assessments, contaminated sites assessments, contaminated sites remediation, and/or mine site remediation.
• Experience contributing to a project or to program delivery.

The following criteria are not required for appointment but preference may be given to candidates who possess these qualifications.
EDUCATION:
• Graduation with a honours or masters degree from a recognized post-secondary institution with an acceptable specialization in environmental sciences.
EXPERIENCE:
• Experience in environmental assessment, permitting and regulatory processes.
• Experience with environmental restoration, reclamation and/or construction projects.
• Experience working with Indigenous communities.
KNOWLEDGE:
• Knowledge of the operational, technical and environmental solutions to Northern contaminated site assessment and remediation.
• Knowledge of environmental legislation, polices and/or programs in Yukon.

• Willingness and ability to travel to remote communities and to areas outside of the Yukon.
