Reporting directly to the Director, Research Development and Technology (RDT), the Associate Director RDT manages day to day activities related to their Centre to contribute to agriculture and agri-food systems within their ecozone and national contexts; manages scientists and other science professionals and support staff; develops and executes, for their Centre, annual business plans, including HR, financial, equipment, and communication plans aligned with the Branch’s strategic and business plans; brokers local and regional collaboration and partnerships; and contributes, under the leadership of the Director, RDT, to knowledge and technology transfer activities and to the career development and peer review process for researchers as well as other agricultural science professionals at their Centre of responsibility.

EDUCATION
- Graduation with an acceptable doctoral degree from a recognized post-secondary institution in a field of the natural sciences related to the duties of the position, or the employer-approved alternative.
Note: The employer-approved alternative is an acceptable master’s or bachelor’s degree coupled with acceptable research, training and experience. The degree must be from a recognized post-secondary institution and in scientific fields and specialties related to the duties of the position. The training and experience must clearly demonstrate the ability to do personal research of doctoral degree calibre.

EXPERIENCE
- Significant* experience in operational management in a science delivery environment.
- Significant** experience in managing human and financial resources.
- Experience in providing science management advice to senior management (Director, Director General or above).
- Experience in building and maintaining relationships with governments, industry, indigenous communities or academia.
*Significant experience means the applicant has performed complex activities related to project management for approximately 2 years or more.
**Significant experience means the applicant has performed activities related to managing human and financial resources for 6 months or more in the past 5 years.
