Education
Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary education in natural, physical or applied science, with a specialization in a field relevant to the duties of the position.
Note:
The courses for the specialization must be acceptable and must have been taken at a recognized post-secondary institution, but not necessarily within a degree program in the required specialization.
- Recent experience (i.e. within the past 3 years) in preparing, analyzing and interpreting ecological datasets
- Experience in writing and/or editing peer-reviewed scientific publication in forest ecology
- Experience conducting field data collection in forest ecology

- Knowledge of scientific concepts in forest ecology
- Botanical knowledge including plant identification
- Knowledge of statistical analysis using R, including the ability to write scripts
- Ability to conduct complex and efficient data manipulation
- Ability to summarize or document key findings and messaging in English scientific publications

Asset Qualifications
Graduation with a Masters degree from a recognized post-secondary institution in a natural, physical or applied science with specialization in a field relevant to the duties of the position.
Experience in organizing or facilitating workshops, meetings and/or collaborative science activities
Experience in assessing plant communities using a functional trait approach
Knowledge of scientific concepts on forest vulnerability, genomic vulnerability or adaptation to climate change
Ability to manage databases using appropriate software (e.g., Microsoft Access or PostgreSQL)
Ability to program in different language (e.g., C++ or Python)
Reliability Status security clearance
