The Courts Administration Service (CAS) provides services to the Federal Court of Appeal, the Federal Court, the Court Martial Appeal Court of Canada and the Tax Court of Canada.

The CAS’s mission is to provide timely and accurate registry, judicial and corporate services to the four superior courts and to their clients in the most innovative and effective manner, while promoting a healthy workplace and encouraging employees’ ongoing contribution to service delivery excellence.

The CAS has its own compensation services which include direct access to a Compensation Advisor in Ottawa for timely resolution of all pay issues that may arise.

Intent of the process

A pool of pre-qualified or fully qualified candidates may be created to staff similar or identical positions with various tenure, various linguistic profiles and various security requirements within the Courts Administration Service.

Candidates may be evaluated further, for specific opportunities, on qualifications that are deemed necessary, whether or not these qualifications (including condition of employment) have been listed on the job advertisement.

At minimum a secondary school diploma or an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.

Degree equivalency

Experience providing Human Resources administrative support services in a work environment.

Experience performing staffing related data entry and queries in MyGCHR/PeopleSoft.

Experience using the Microsoft Office Suite software such as Word, Outlook or Excel in a work environment.

Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution with acceptable specialization in human resources management, labour or industrial relations, psychology, public or business administration, organizational development, education sciences, social sciences, sociology, or in any other field relevant to the work to be performed.

Degree equivalency

Experience working in a judicial or quasi-judicial environment*.

Experience administrating Second Language Evaluations.

Experience in providing administrative services in Express Staffing.

Experience using the Public Service Resourcing System (PSRS).

Experience using the Public Service Commission’s Priority Information Management System (PIMS).

A top down selection of candidates may be used in the determination of those to be given further consideration in the assessment process.

The assessment board reserves the right to contact references other than the ones submitted by the candidates (only within the Public Service), if found necessary, in order to make a suitable assessment of the candidates.

All the information collected during the selection process, from the time of application until the end of the process, may be used to assess the candidates.
