The Office Environment
Service Canada is committed to protecting the health and safety of employees through the COVID Pandemic. Due to the nature of our work, there is a need for our support staff to work onsite. Training
We provide extensive training and development to allow you to acquire comprehensive and up-to-date knowledge of Service Canada's programs and services. Training is provided either in person or virtually with subject matter experts or online, self-directed. Once training is concluded, trainees will be supported through a peer mentoring system.

The Benefits

Duties include but are not limited to:
PROGRAM SUPPORT CLERK (PSC) and PROGRAM AND SERVICE DELIVERY CLERK (PSDC)
• Obtain, input, maintain and extract data and documentation related to applications, claims, and other administrative forms
• Analyse and validate data and/or documentation for accuracy, completeness, and compliance.
• Apply established procedures and guidelines relating to the validation of information for both administration and program delivery
• Carry out fact-finding activities to research and retrieve information to determine entitlement
• Communicate with clients and employers to obtain and provide required information verbally and in writing
• Identify and refer complex cases to the appropriate level for decision within clearly established procedures and guidelines

In addition to the above, the PROGRAM AND SERVICE DELIVERY CLERK (PSDC) also:
• Makes administrative decisions on straight forward/non-complex applications that are complete and in compliance with the established criteria, procedures, guidelines, and system authorities

BUSINESS SUPPORT ASSISTANT (BSA)
• Arrange for servicing of office equipment
• Maintain inventory of office supplies
• Order supplies as required
• Distributes security cards
• Arranging and overseeing the shredding of classified materials
• Prepare correspondence, reports, statements, forms, presentations, applications
• Sort and file documents according to established filing systems
• Locate and retrieve documents from files as requested
• Maintain and prepare reports from manual or electronic files
• Photocopy and collate documents for distribution, mailing and filing
• Process incoming and outgoing mail, manually or electronically
• Provide general information to staff, clients and the public
• Respond to telephone, in person or electronic enquiries
• Send and receive messages and documents
• Forward enquiries to appropriate person

Intent of the process

The intent of this process is to create a pool of qualified candidates for the Program and Service Delivery Clerk and Program Support Clerk positions and a 2nd pool of qualified candidates for the Business Support Assistant position within the Benefits Delivery Services Branch in Edmonton, AB. These pools could also be used to staff similar positions of various tenures within Employment and Social Development Canada in Edmonton, AB.

Initially a random selection among applications will be made. Randomly selected applicants will be assessed and those who meet all the essential qualifications will be placed in the qualified pool. Subsequent random selections may be made from the remaining applications and assessments may be conducted at a later date.

EDUCATION:
Secondary school diploma or an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.
