Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution with specialization in fisheries, natural or biological science, or in a field relevant to the position.
At least one year of experience conducting research projects and writing scientific reports.
Diversified experience in statistical analysis of ecological data.
Experience using programming language for quantitative analysis of biological or other data (e.g., R, Matlab, ou SAS), not limited to the academic curriculum.
Post-graduate degree with a specialization in a field relevant to the position.
University diploma in statistics or in a related field.
Experience publishing in scientific journals with a peer-review process as first author in one of the following field: habitat selection, predator-prey relationships, population dynamics, movement analysis, diet modelling using stable isotopes or other chemical tracers.
Experience using statistical programs such as R, JAGS, STAN, TMB.
Experience in quantitative analysis of complex data from marine mammals.
Experience in quantitative analysis of complex data from aquatic species.
Experience in the development or maintenance of databases.
Experience in population dynamics modeling.
Experience using or developing population dynamics models using Bayesian inference approaches.
Experience in quantitative analysis of complex data related to habitat selection.
Experience processing survey data using distance sampling approaches, or other abundance estimation approaches.
Experience in quantitative analysis of complex data related to predator-prey relationships.
Experience in quantitative analysis of complex data related to animal movements.
Experience in diet modeling using stable isotopes or other chemical tracers.
Experience conducting scientific work from small vessels, aircraft, or larger vessels.
Experience presenting and providing science-based advice to a varied audience.
Experience working in the field work or in isolated camps.
Have completed or accept to successfully complete a course on «Experimental Fish» in accordance with certification by the Animal Welfare Committee of the Maurice Lamontagne Institute, Fisheries and Oceans Canada.
Have completed or accept to successfully complete a theoretical and practical course for driving heavy vehicle or towing boats «Conformity program for drivers at Fisheries and Oceans Canada.
Have completed or accept to successfully complete a course to obtain a permit for detaining and acquiring fire arms.
Accept and be capable of using firearms with the aim of killing marine mammals as part of sampling programs.
Accept to travel and to work outside of normal working hours.
Accept and be able to work at sea or in the field in remote or isolated environments and under primitive conditions (e.g. camping) for periods of 3 days up to 6 consecutive weeks, and for periods that could exceed 10 weeks per year.
Accept or be qualified to operate small vessels in accordance with certification by Transport Canada or accept to follow and succeed in acquiring this certificate.
