This position is in the team leading in economic analysis for some of the Government’s key priorities relating to the minerals and metals sector. Candidates will contribute to providing economic analysis for supporting Canada’s transition to a net-zero economy and the shift towards greening the economy; balancing resource and nature in planning new conservation areas; providing expertise into Impact Assessments under the Act; developing innovative approaches to economic and socioeconomic analysis; publishing documents on key trends in the sector; and much more.

The immediate need is to staff one (1) position located at 580 Booth Street, in Ottawa, ON.
A pool of qualified candidates may be established through this process to staff identical or similar positions at the EC-05 group and level within Natural Resources Canada with various tenures (determinate period or indeterminate), language requirements (English Essential, French Essential, English or French Essential and Bilingual Imperative or Non-Imperative) and linguistic profile(s) (BBB/BBB, CBC/CBC, CCC/CCC, etc.), locations and conditions of employment.

► Graduation with a degree (Bachelor, Masters or PhD) from a recognized post-secondary institution with acceptable specialization in economics or statistics.
►Graduation with a degree (Bachelor, Masters or PhD) from a recognized post-secondary institution in geology, geological engineering, geochemistry or geophysics.
Note:
1. Candidates must have a minimum of one degree; both requirements can be satisfied with one degree.
2. The specialization in economics or statistics requires a minimum of 3 courses in economics or statistics; or through an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.
► Experience working in the mining sector* for approximately 3 years or more.
* The mining sector is defined as: a company that operates a mine or a smelter, conducts exploration activities, or a consultant that offered geological or mining services to the mining sector.
► Experience performing economic, financial or socio-economic analysis relevant to mining markets, projects or policies.
► Graduation with a degree (Bachelor, Master’s or PhD) from a recognized post-secondary institution in economics or commerce.
► Experience providing scientific policy advice or recommendations on issues pertaining to Canada’s mining sector.
► Ability and willingness to work overtime on occasion.
