Duties

The MSc student will conduct research trials in the lab and field to investigate:

(1) How land use influences beneficial insect community composition across Atlantic Canada

(2) How regenerative farming practices impact wild bee communities in commercial agriculture

Work environment

The Fredericton Research and Development Centre (Fredericton RDC) was established in 1912 in Fredericton, New Brunswick. It is one of Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada's (AAFC) network of 20 research and development centres.

The Fredericton RDC supports innovative research, development, technology and knowledge transfer activities related to the following AAFC Science Sector Strategies:

- Horticulture
- Agro-Ecosystem Resilience
- Biodiversity and Bioresources

Day-to-day hands-on research work will be conducted at the Fredericton Research and Development Centre, with coursework and other academic activities completed at nearby University of New Brunswick.

Education:
Currently enrolled or will be enrolled in a Master’s program at the University of New Brunswick with a specialization in biology by the date of appointment.

Degree equivalency

Experience:
Experience* in conducting field work with insects.
Experience* in searching scientific literature.

*In the context of student recruitment in the Federal Public Service, the experience can be acquired through the studies, work experience, or volunteer activities.
