Education:
A secondary school diploma.
Occupational Certification:
• Marine Emergency Duties Certification (A1, A3, B1, B2) or an equivalent STCW basic safety training or seafarers certificate.
• Small Vessel Operator Proficiency (SVOP).
• Valid drivers license with heavy trailer endorsement.
Experience:
• Significant* experience operating or crewing aboard commercial or recreational craft.
• Experience performing vessel maintenance and simple repairs to engines or electric motors aboard commercial or recreational craft.
• Experience in light truck operations and in the operation of hauling trailers.
• Experience in maintenance of commercial or recreational craft equipment inventory. This may include loading, stowing, securing and discharging of cargo and supplies, and in delivering equipment and stores ashore.
• Experience in using Microsoft Office computer software.
Note: *Significant: Refers to the depth and breadth of experience that is normally associated with the full time performance of duties and for a period of approximately one (1) year. Education:
• Diploma in a Marine-related field from an approved post-secondary institution.
Occupational Certification:
• Limited Master Certification
• Limited Engineering Certification
• 150T Master Certification
Experience:
• Experience in coordinating training or meetings.

Information on language requirements
Knowledge:
• Knowledge of Transport Canada Safe Boating Regulations, and Collision Regulation.
• Knowledge of Transport Canada Small Vessel Compliance Program.
• Ability to communicate effectively orally.
• Ability to communicate effectively in writing.
• Ability to diagnose mechanical or electrical equipment malfunctions and determine appropriate action to be taken.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
• Valid driver’s license.
• Valid CAT III Health Canada Medical
• Willing to travel anywhere in Canada by car, truck, ship, launch, helicopter or small plane.
• Willing to work at sea and in the field.
• Willing to work overtime on weekday and weekends.
• Willing to work away from home and/or in isolated areas for extended periods of time.
