Intent of the process

The immediate need is to staff one position on an indeterminate basis, with a linguistic profile of English Essential and an RCMP Top Secret security clearance.

A pool of candidates may be established and may be used to staff similar positions within the RCMP in various locations on an indeterminate or specified period (including term, acting, or assignment) basis, with various linguistic profiles and various RCMP security clearances.

Should a Civilian Member (CM) be found qualified and selected for appointment, the appointment will not result in a change of status to the Public Service (PS) category for the CM.

In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)

Successful completion of two years of an acceptable post-secondary educational program in computer science, information technology, information management or another specialty relevant to the position to be staffed.

Notes:
1.Indeterminate period incumbents of positions in the CS group on May 10, 1999, who do not possess the education prescribed above, are deemed to meet the minimum education standards based on their education, training and/or experience. They must be accepted as having met the minimum education standard whenever this standard is called for when staffing positions in the CS group.
2.It is the recognized educational institution (e.g. community college, CÉGEP or university) that determines if the courses taken by a candidate correspond to two years of a post-secondary program at the institution.
3.At the manager's discretion, an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience may serve as an alternative to the minimum post-secondary education stated above. Whenever the minimum education is met using this alternative, it is met for the specific position only and must be re-assessed for other positions for which this alternative has been specified by the manager.

Degree equivalency

* Extensive experience in the electronics technology field, with emphasis on security systems.
* Extensive experience in the installation, programming and maintenance of computerized access control systems, (and/or) intrusion detection systems, (and/or) closed circuit video systems.
* Extensive experience with electronic security software applications, networks and specialized interface hardware.
* Extensive experience in electronic system performance analysis, problem analysis and documentation.
Experience in supervising personnel.

* Extensive refers to a minimum of five years of experience within the last 7 years.

Certification in access control, alarm or video systems.

Experience with national and provincial electrical codes and legislation.
Experience on construction site regulations and wiring standards.
Experience in financial and human resources planning.

Conditions of employment

Top Secret security clearance - Canadian Mounted Police will be subject to a thorough security clearance process which includes an interview wherein questions may include (but not limited to), reference checks, previous employment, on-line activities, credit checks, alcohol and/or drug use."

Must hold a valid driver’s license.
Willingness and ability to travel, including overnight stays.
Willingness and ability to work outdoors in various inclement weather conditions.
