These positions are in the team leading in economic analysis for some of the Government’s key priorities relating to the minerals and metals sector. Candidates will contribute to providing economic analysis for supporting Canada’s transition to a net-zero economy and the shift towards greening the economy; balancing resource and nature in planning new conservation areas; providing expertise into Impact Assessments under the Act; developing innovative approaches to economic and socioeconomic analysis; publishing documents on key trends in the sector; and much more.

The immediate need is to staff two (2) positions located at 580 Booth Street, in Ottawa, ON. A pool of qualified candidates may be established through this process to staff identical or similar EC-05 and EC-06 positions at Natural Resources Canada with various tenures (determinate period or indeterminate), language requirements (English Essential, French Essential, English or French Essential and Bilingual Imperative or Non-Imperative) and profile(s) (BBB/BBB, CBC/CBC,CCC/CCC, etc.), locations and conditions of employment.

► Graduation with a degree (Bachelor, Master's or PhD) from a recognized post-secondary institution with acceptable specialization in economics or statistics.
Note:

2. The specialization may also be obtained through an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.
► A minimum of three years of experience in providing advice to senior management** to inform decisions relating to trade- or industry-related issues.
► Experience in summarizing economic or statistical research and findings through briefings or presentations to senior management.**
► Experience in working on horizontal or interdepartmental projects.
► Experience using economic or statistical approaches and data to conduct analysis relating to industry.
**Senior management is defined as Director or equivalent level and above.
► A graduate degree (Master’s or PhD) from a recognized post-secondary institution with acceptable specialization in economics or statistics.
► Willingness and ability to travel on occasion.
► Willingness and ability to work overtime on occasion.
