***VERY IMPORTANT NOTE: The assessment of candidates selected for further consideration, will be in-person and ONLY take place in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia. The cost to attend the assessment will be the candidate’s responsibility. 1) You are required to complete screening questions that clearly demonstrate how you meet the essential criteria of education, experience and any asset education and asset experience if applicable. Your response must include HOW (concrete examples), WHEN (dates) and WHERE (location of work) you meet the essential criteria required. It is your responsibility to provide complete and appropriate examples that illustrate how you meet each qualification. Failing to do so could result in your application being rejected.
2) The screening board cannot make any assumptions about your experience and will not contact candidates for additional or potentially missing information.

A pool of qualified candidates may be established to fill current and future vacancies, on a temporary or permanent, part-time or full-time basis within RCMP.
Should a Public Service (PS) employee be found qualified and selected for appointment, notification regarding the PS appointment will be posted accordingly on www.jobs.gc.ca.
Should a Civilian Member (CM) be found qualified and selected for appointment, the appointment will not result in a change of status to the Public Service (PS) category for the CM. Information regarding the CM appointment will be sent to all applicable candidates who are within the area of selection and participated in the advertised process.

Successful completion of two years of an acceptable post-secondary educational program in computer science, information technology, information management or another specialty relevant to the position to be staffed.
Experience:
Recent* significant experience** supporting a LAN/WAN environment (Microsoft, Novell or another relevant technology platform)
Recent* significant experience** supporting a Microsoft Windows desktop computer networking environment
Recent* significant experience** with maintenance, installation and repair of computers and accessories
Recent* significant experience** performing network administration functions
*”Recent” is defined as experience obtained within the last four (4) years.
**”Significant experience” refers to the breadth and depth of experience in the IM/IT field that would normally be acquired over a period of six (6) months or more.

Top Secret security clearance - The successful applicant will have to obtain, as a minimum, an RCMP Top Secret Security Clearance. The process requires a Security/Reliability Interview, a field investigation in matters of Criminal Activities, credit/finances, education, employment, references, etc.
NOTE: Successful candidates will require a valid RCMP security clearance prior to appointment and throughout the tenure of their employment. The process to obtain RCMP security clearance involves a security/reliability interview and a field investigation regarding matters of criminal activity which includes reference checks, verification of credit/financial status, education, employment, etc. As such, the process may take several weeks or months to complete. To be granted RCMP security clearance and to maintain the ethical standards of the RCMP, candidates must not be, or have been, involved in certain criminal activities*, have been dishonourably discharged, have pending personal bankruptcies, etc. For additional information and a complete list of activities, please visit and read the section titled “To apply as a police officer, you”, as well as the applicable considerations under “Evaluating your past actions”. The security requirements are the same for all employees of the RCMP.
Applicants will be required to obtain and maintain an RCMP Top Secret security clearance throughout their employment at the Government of Canada Top Secret security level
Possession of a valid driver’s license

Mobility to the extent of crawling under furniture to set up and assemble computer equipment
Physical ability for lifting of heavy or awkward items like printers or computers, up to 23kg.
