Intent of the process

Although the immediate intent of this Job Opportunity Advertisement is to staff indeterminately, applicants should be aware that a pool of qualified candidates (fully assessed or partially assessed) may be established and may be used to staff similar positions at this group and level with various language requirements listed in the Language Requirements section. In addition, this process may be used for various tenures (acting appointments, assignment, deployment, indeterminate, specified period, secondment), security requirements and conditions of employment within the Correctional Service of Canada. EDUCATION

A secondary school diploma or an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.

Degree equivalency

EXPERIENCE

Experience in at least one (1) of the following areas:
• Financial planning, resource management and production of reports.
• Financial Operations: Account Verification, account receivables or account payables.
Experience in using Microsoft Office Suite (Word and Excel).
Experience in providing advice or recommendations to clients and colleagues.

KNOWLEDGE

Knowledge of accounting methods, practices and principles.

ABILITIES

Ability to communicate effectively orally.
Ability to communicate effectively in writing.
Ability to analyze, interpret or apply financial policies, guidelines and procedures.
Ability to audit and process accounts.
Ability to establish priorities and work under pressure.

EDUCATION

Completion of at least one accounting course at the post-secondary level as part of a diploma program.

Degree equivalency

EXPERIENCE

Experience in using a financial system such as Oracle or SAP.
Experience in working for a federal government department (including students, temporary help or casual).

OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS

Willingness and ability to work overtime in short notice.
Willingness and ability to travel occasionally.
Willingness and ability to work in the National Capital Region.
