Including, but not limited to: raising Nested Association Mapping (NAM) RIL population and founder lines in green house and in field, DNA extraction, whole-genome genotyping, phenotyping of morphological, physiological and root traits, bioinformatics and statistical analysis of data, writing manuscripts for peer- reviewed publications, and presenting the research findings at national/ international conferences.
The site of work is Lethbridge Research and Development Centre in Alberta, equipped with state of the art instruments, growth cabinets and other infrastructure. Work will be done in the sustainable cereal genomics laboratory. The lab is a supportive team environment, where work will be carried out independently following working alone policies of the AAFC, in collaborative teams, and common space in the building will be shared between research groups.

Currently enrolled or eligible to enroll in the PhD program with specialization in plant science, plant breeding, plant genetics, plant molecular or biology at the Department of Agricultural, Food and Nutritional Science (AFNS), University of Alberta.
Experience* in Phenotyping of yield, agronomic and physiological traits in plants;
Experience* in two or more of the following basic laboratory techniques:
1. DNA and RNA isolation
2. Electrophoresis
3. Polymerase chain reaction
4. In-vitro culture
5. Growing plants in green house and growth cabinets.
*In the context of student recruitment in the Federal Public Service, the experience can be acquired through the studies, work experience, or volunteer activities.
