Intent of the process

The intent of this process is to staff one EG-03 position on an indeterminate basis. We anticipate further appointments in the near future

A pool of qualified candidates may be established through this process to staff identical or similar positions at the EG-03 group and level within Natural Resources Canada with various tenures (determinate period or permanent), various language requirements (English Essential, French Essential, English or French Essential, or Bilingual), linguistic requirements (imperative and/or non-imperative) and profile(s) (BBB/BBB, CBC/CBC, CCC/CCC, etc.), various security requirements (Reliability status or Secret clearance), various conditions of employment and for various locations.

Information you must provide

In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)

Secondary school diploma or an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience related to the duties of the position.

Degree equivalency

• Experience working in a mineral processing laboratory
• Experience in maintaining and operating laboratory equipment used to prepare solid mineral samples
• Experience in data collection and analysis
• Experience in incorporating health and safety guidelines and procedures in laboratory work processes and products

The following will be applied / assessed at a later date (essential for the job)

• Knowledge of calibration and quality control procedures used in a laboratory.
• Knowledge of preparation techniques used for fine mineral powders
• Knowledge of inventory management practices
• Knowledge of shipping practices for fine mineral powders
• Knowledge of health and safety practices in a laboratory setting

• Ability to calibrate laboratory equipment and to perform standard measurements
• Ability to record and organize experimental data
• Ability to manage time effectively
• Ability to communicate effectively orally
• Ability to communicate effectively in writing
