This selection process will be used to staff positions within the Canadian Coast Guard in Victoria, BC. A pool of qualified candidates will be created and may be used to staff similar positions, on a temporary or permanent basis.

Your résumé.
Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution in civil, electrical, geotechnical, mechanical engineering or a different engineering degree specialty that is relevant to the duties of the position.
All Streams
Minimum three years of engineering experience pertaining to projects in one or more of the following: project planning and design; project management and contract administration; or project construction and inspections.
Minimum one year of experience in an engineering role that involved site inspections and field reviews

Stream 1
Minimum two years of engineering experience pertaining to the design, installation and maintenance of civil, electrical or mechanical systems.
Stream 2
Minimum two years of engineering experience pertaining to the design and construction of Radio Frequency (RF) or wireless communications systems

Eligible for registration as a Professional Engineer in British Columbia.
Experience coordinating projects on remote sites with access challenges.
Experience in contracting practices with Public Services and Procurement Canada contracting groups.
Experience preparing specification packages in the National Master Specification format.
Experience in the design and review of concrete structures.
Experience in the design, inspection and maintenance of marine structures.
Experience in the design, inspection and maintenance of communication towers and associated equipment.
Experience in the programming and design of control and monitoring systems.
Experience in the design, inspection and maintenance of fire suppression systems.
Experience in coordinating engineering projects and or consultations with indigenous groups.
Experience with coordinating engineering projects and or consultations with environmental regulatory groups.
Experience in the installation of shipboard navigation electronics
Experience in the design and implementation of IP networks
Knowledge of life cycle asset management practices
Knowledge of electrical grounding and bonding practices.
Valid Health Canada Medical
Security Clearance: Reliability Status
Valid BC Class 5 Driver’s License.
Willing and able to work weekends/overtime and travel on short notice.
Willing and able to access remote sites over rugged terrain and work in extremes of environmental conditions on land and at sea.
Willing and able to travel for up to three week periods of time.
Willing and able to travel to remote areas via trucks, boats and aircraft.
Willing and able to work at heights in excess of 2.4m.
